Lafayette - Day 3

November 18
The first day we were here, Keith the gentelman that also works for AEG, showed us that an article had come out in a local, free paper about "our" religion. We read it the first day we got here; it's a journalist who followed the missionaries around for a few days. It also talked about some of the members and this made us more excited to meet our new ward family.
The link to the article is below, or to the left under my Lafayette links:

Sunday, this was the day I've been most anxious for. I was so excited to meet the ward. We were greeted by many people. 3 sets of elders and all sorts of lovely members. We actually ran into a friend from Snow College, that Scott and I both new, she was just visiting, so it was pretty random!!! SMALL WORLD!

We're looking forward to getting to know the members better. There are a couple of couples that we seemed to click with pretty fast and we've made plans to get together in January when I get back. One couple is anxious to teach us Cajun cooking, Cajun talk and even Cajun DANCING!! How exciting!!!!!

After church we took a drive to the north to the "country" and through some wildreness areas, once again, we wanted to see more of the culture of Louisiana in a different way. We stopped near a creek and took a small nap and then headed back to the hotel.

We're just packing up and getting ready for another VERY early flight in the morning. We'll spend the next couple of days before Thanksgiving cleaning up the house and packing up as much as we can.

Again, I'm very grateful for the opportunity we have to be here. I can tell that I will learn a lot here and that my testimony will be strengthened by the members here-it was amazing what I learned/felt today, I can't imagine what it will be like when we get to know them.

Signing off...
SLY

We are sad to see you leave now that we just got here, but I'm excited for you and your new adventure! It's so fun to get to go somewhere where everything and everyone is new, I'm still exploring my new surroundings! Good luck with everything!
